Gervais School District Announces Members of Bond Advisory Committee
The Gervais School District was pleased to announce the members of its newly established Bond Advisory Committee at the August School Board meeting. This committee was formed in accordance with the district’s commitment to transparency and legal requirements for managing bond funds dedicated to capital improvement projects. This committee will play a crucial role in overseeing projects funded by the general obligation bond approved by voters in the May 2024 election, as well as additional funding the district receives through capital improvement grants, including the $6 million OCSIM grant.
The committee is composed of a diverse group of individuals from various precincts within the district, bringing a wealth of experience in business, construction, agriculture, finance, education, and public service. Many members also have personal connections to the district, being current or former parents of students. The appointed members are:
Afanasy Burkoff
Claire Chang
John Frost
Melanie Saalfeld
Denise Teixeira
Courtnie Young
Bob Zielinski
The Bond Advisory Committee will meet regularly to review updates on the budget, project progress, communications, and other relevant topics. Their oversight ensures that projects align with the scope and intent outlined in the bond resolution.
The first meeting of the Bond Advisory Committee is scheduled for September 11, 2024, at 6:30 PM at the district office, 290 1st Street. These meetings are open to the public, and community members are welcome to attend to stay informed in the district’s ongoing facility improvement efforts.
